A useful signal came from Egypt this week. Global Cement reported on 25 June 2026 that Misr Cement plans to increase its reliance on alternative fuels at its Qena and Minya plants. According to the report, the company is targeting initial alternative-fuel investment of US$7m-US$8m for each plant, with the stated goals of improving operational efficiency, environmental sustainability and cost reduction.
